About the Recipe
Some foods just hit the comfort-food nostalgia button — and these Double-Decker Tacos absolutely do. The creamy bean layer acts like the perfect edible glue, wrapping a crunchy corn taco shell inside one of our soft Leaven Heaven flour tortillas for the best of both worlds in every bite.
Pile them high with seasoned beef, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, olives, salsa, and sour cream, and dinner suddenly feels a whole lot more fun.

⅓ cup sour cream
1 Tbsp hot sauce
⅓ cup white queso cheese dip
Taco Filling
1 lb lean ground beef
1 packet taco seasoning
Water as directed on seasoning packet
Shells & Tortillas
Leaven Heaven 6" flour tortillas
Crunchy corn taco shells, baked according to package directions
Favorite Toppings
Shredded cheddar cheese
Shredded lettuce
Diced tomatoes or halved cherry tomatoes
Sliced black olives
Sour cream
Salsa or taco sauce
Preparation
Prepare the Bean Layer
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the refried beans, sour cream, hot sauce, and white queso cheese dip. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until warm, creamy, and smooth.
Keep warm while assembling the tacos.
Cook the Taco Meat
Brown the lean ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain excess grease if needed. Stir in taco seasoning and water according to the packet directions. Simmer until thickened.
Prepare the Shells
Bake the crunchy corn taco shells according to package directions. Warm the Leaven Heaven flour tortillas briefly so they stay soft and flexible.
Build the Double-Deckers
Spread a generous layer of the warm bean mixture onto a flour tortilla. Press a crunchy corn taco shell directly into the beans so the tortilla wraps around and sticks to the shell.
Fill the crunchy shell with taco meat, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, olives, sour cream, salsa, or your favorite toppings.
Serve immediately while the shell is still crisp.
Leaven Heaven Notes
The creamy bean layer is what transforms these from ordinary tacos into true double-deckers — rich, cheesy, slightly spicy, and perfectly messy in the best way.
Our Leaven Heaven tortillas make these especially good because the soft tortilla stays tender while still holding up around the crunchy shell.
